Community Program

The Community Program is the foundation on which Big Brothers Big Sisters was built in 1904—matching youth ages 6 to 14 with adult role models one-on-one for guidance, support, and friendship.

Community mentors meet for 2-4 hours each week to do things together, such as toss a football, go on bike rides, bake cookies, work on homework, play board games, or shoot hoops. It’s flexible—you and your “Little” plan activities and meet when it works for both of you.

“Littles” are matched with Big Sisters or Big Brothers. The program allows the “Littles” to shine as they grow and learn from their mentor about relationships and develop to their full potential. Our agency has a professional and experienced staff to support your match to ensure a fun, fulfilling experience.

Big Couples Program

Married couples often find that sharing the responsibility of a Little Brother or Sister fits well within the time constraints of a busy life and family. Big Couples works the same as the Community Program in terms of the time commitment and the impact you will have on a child. The husband and wife (married at least 2 years) can spend part of this time with the child one-on-one, but at least 50% of the time spent with the child must be as a couple.
