School Program

Take a lunch break from your work day and make a difference in a child’s life! It only takes 40 minutes of your time per week, but the results are magical. Lafayette children are anxiously awaiting the right person to volunteer and become their mentor in the School Program.

The program meets during the lunch/recess time in a designated area at the school. The one-to-one matches have games and activities that are easily accessible and the School Program Coordinator is always on hand to answer any questions. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wabash Valley currently serves 5 Lafayette area elementary schools.

YMCA Program

In this fun and active program, “Bigs” and their “Littles” have plenty of options for activities. Some of these activities include:

  • Basketball
  • Swimming
  • Volleyball
  • Racquetball
  • Pool
  • Air hockey
For more relaxed visits, you can:
  • Play board games
  • Do crafts
  • Help your Little with homework
  • Color
Charlie, who has been a Big at the YMCA for over a year, said:

“Being a Big Brother at the YMCA is very exciting. It is a great atmosphere in which both the YMCA and BBBS principles can be applied in order to lead to an amazing time for both the Big and Little. I can’t be happier with my choice to become a Y Big.”
